To see the Pacific Northwest so tangibly transformed by the love of Jesus that we become an epicenter for nation-wide revival and known as “The New God’s Country.”

Linking Shields is a catalyst for community transformation in the Pacific Northwest. It is a movement of business, pastoral and civic leaders who have banded together in the name of Jesus to meet the tangible needs of our neighbors and to help people live transformed, meaningful lives.

Linking Shields spawned out of a dream in the hearts of a few businessmen to see major revival on the Eastside of Seattle. They wondered what would happen if the Body of Christ united across denominations to return to their First Love and missionally serve our community, TOGETHER!

Back in March of 2008, eight Sr. Pastors and five business leaders from the Eastside went away on a ski retreat to Montana. They recognized that the Kingdom of God is so much greater than their own little fiefdoms and that they could have a much greater impact on our region working together. The pastors established three priorities going forward: (1) to continue meeting together on a monthly basis for lunch (which has now grown to 35+ Sr. Pastors each month); (2) to help reengage men in the rescue mission of Jesus (which led to large equipping events for men with Steve Farrar, Stu Weber, Chuck Colson, Greg Laurie, Rick Enloe, Donald Miller & Jim Henderson); and (3) to love our neighbors by tangibly serving them.

In the past three years, this grassroots movement has gained momentum. We are watching God build relational bridges between Sr. Pastors, different churches and denominations - even between outreach organizations and city government!

In the past two years, Linking Shields has hosted:

• 5,500 men from 125+ churches at seven community-wide events
• 700 teens from 70 schools & 200 youth leaders at two movie nights
• 600 couples from 30+ churches at two marriage events
• 40+ pastors at monthly lunches to build unity in the Church
• 46 pastors on life-changing retreats
• 2,000+ volunteers who have transformed city parks, elementary schools, homes of low-income families & met hundreds of other needs through Jubilee Service Day & Jubilee REACH Center (partner ministries).

Most of us live as if the physical world is the most real thing about us. However, we are first and foremost spiritual beings, often unaware of the fierce spiritual battle waged for our hearts. The enemy of our souls is assaulting our sons and daughters, our culture and our world. We have been anesthetized with comfort and entertainment, and deceived by the false promises of wealth, power, and success. We have lost sight of what brings true, enduring joy in life – closeness with God; purpose in his world; meaningful relationships with each other.

We believe God is inviting us into deeper relationship – with Himself, with each other, with our neighbors. Each of us has a significant role to play, and only by working together will we succeed in bringing Jesus’ healing to ourselves and to our world.

We will offer retreats, events and service opportunities that: (a) build relational bridges; (b) promote effective partnerships; (c) encourage and equip people; (d) serve and bless our community.
